SPRING GROVE FIREFIGHTER'S ASSOCIATION
Since the beginning of the Spring Grove Fire Department, the members of the fire department have always provided more than a response mechanism for emergency service. Byron "Barney" Orvis was instrumental in early fund raising (1925) in order to purchase vehicles and equipment. Throughout the years, the members have supported the District first by raising funds and secondly by their donated work. Their current fundraiser is the annual Steak Fry, held the 2nd Saturday of August. Throughout the years, the Association has or continues to provide: --Funds to purchase the first new fire engine in 1928; then work to restore it in the 90's --Funds and work to build the training house located on the station property to the west --Funds to purchase the computer, projector and TV's for the classroom --Funds to assist in the purchase of 12-lead EKG monitors --Funds to purchase the Polaris 6-wheeler and then, in conjunction with the DNR and the District to outfit it with the pump, tank and EMS stretcher system --An annual scholarship to a graduating Richmond Burton High School senior --Work to refurbish an ambulance in the 80's --Fill the boot for Burn Camp --Funds for the fitness equipment Watch here for a link to the Association website when developed. |
